The Characteristics of UK's Foods

Before I travelled to the UK last year, I thought that British food was just fish and chips, roast beef, apple pie, rice pudding and endless cups of tea. These foods are popular in Britain, but during my travels, I discovered that there is so much more to eating in the UK. People from all over the world have made their home in Britain, and they have brought with them their own food. Even in small towns, you can find Chinese, Indian and Italian restaurants, amongst others. The UK can be divided into different regions that each has its own characeristic foods influenced by the culture of the people who live there.
The first characteristic that influences the food in the UK is there are comers from some countries in the world such as Chinese, Indian, Italian, even Japan. Their coming forms new influence for UK, especially in the food sector. For example about the taste, plating, manner and ingredients. They are different with UK food basically. The second characteristic is style of cooking. The British people do not use many seasonings and is sometimes criticized for its bland taste. British people accustomed to use honey and fruit juice. They also adopted some spice from Cina (tea), India (curry-style spicing), they even developed a line of spicy sauces including ketchup, mint sauce, Worcestershire sauce and deviled sauce to indulge these tastes. The last characteristic is the foods that are plated or cooked for the celebration days only. Such as thanksgiving day, birthday, christmas day, halloween day, or other big days. The big days' foods are more special than the foods that are eaten or plated every in their house.
The British foods adopted some spices from other countries, such as Chinese, Indian, Italian, even Japan that came to England in the past time. As we know that England has some big days that they celebrate in some months, it can influence the British foods.
